Business Manager

General Purpose: Responsible for the general business and day-to-day operations of the church ministries. Provide oversight and management of financial, accounting. Staff resources, facilities, risk management, database, and general office/ administrative support. This position functions to provide essential operational services and controls designed to assist the church in carrying out its objectives and stated mission in an efficient, effective, and responsible manner. This is a part-time/full-time position and reports to the Lead Pastor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Management –

· Accountable for the oversight and management of the finance functions with direction from the Treasurer and the Church

Board of Directors

· Work within and analyze annual budget

· Assist staff and ministry leaders to manage ministry budgets

Human Resources –

· Responsible for Journey Church’s HR practices

· Manage onboarding of new staff

· Ensure compliance with all Federal and State employment laws and regulations

· Ensure proper policies and procedures are in place for each of our ministries

Risk Management –

· In partnership with the church board, maintain appropriate insurance coverage for all church properties and activities

· In partnership with the church board, ensure policies are in place to mitigate potential legal challenges

Facilities Management –

· Accountable for the oversight of the maintenance and management of all church owned facilities, rental properties, land, grounds, and improvements in coordination with the Trustee Team

Office/ Administrative Support –

· Serve as the Database Administrator for the Journey church management database

· Overseeing, and having regular meetings with paid administrative staff and key volunteer team members

Communication and Digital Ministry –

· Oversight of Journey Church communications, including but not limited to maintaining timely and accurate information on website, newsletter, social media, emails, mailings, text messages etc.

· Oversees and ensure all communications are consistent with our mission and vision

· Takes direction from Church Board and Lead Pastor for key ministry and policy communications.

Strategic Planning and Reporting-

· Responsible to the church board for the preparation and written submission of reports and recommendations on methods, projects, processes and practices to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of overall church operations

· Recruit volunteers as needed for all ministry areas

Perform other duties as assigned

Position requirements/skills

· The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent training in business, administration, leadership, or human resources management

· Excellent verbal communicator: Comfortable speaking before large groups of people

A commitment to the mission of the church and to the Proficient skill in operation of basic office equipment, which includes phone, fax, copiers, audiovisual equipment for training/presentations

· Competent in office programs such as: Word and Excel and Publishing Office

· Aptitude in the use of technology to help the church further its ministry goals

· Ability and willingness to engage with people of all generations in the ministry of the church

· Willingness to uphold our church’s statement of beliefs

A growing personal relationship with Christ

· Demonstrate leadership as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:7 in the bible
